Recreating a classic character with the warmth of handcraft

Steamboat Willie’s Mickey Mouse needed to become product artwork for Disney Store while retaining both the film’s classic character and the warmth of handcraft.

We carefully rebuilt the monochrome world, signature pose and ship’s wheel in clay, designing the piece to work both as a physical display and photographed artwork.

The physical work was displayed at Disney Store, while its image was developed across clear files, magnets, pens, memo pads and other merchandise.
